The genesis

Meet Swish Dental — a large dental group in Austin, Texas, whose focus is on elevating the patient experience through a comfort-centric approach.

Our founder, Josh, had been a patient — and a fan — of Swish Dental for years before we worked together. The vibe of their office is clean, comfortable, and modern but still fun. And they take incredible care of their clients — which is why they’re the highest-rated dentistry in Austin.

Houston, we have a problem

When you’re basically a five-star dental group in Austin, word gets around, and business grows fast — to 12 offices, to be exact. And with modern technology, patients want and expect to interact with you online. But Swish didn’t have enough people to handle their growing success.

So, that’s where hmpsn studio stepped in. Upon further conversations and research, we helped these doctors with a treatment plan:

Swish already had an existing site, but it wasn’t optimized to facilitate patient booking. Plus, they had a new killer design concept for their site but didn’t know how to make it happen. They didn’t want to take a chance doing it themselves and lose the SEO work they had done up to this point. Great ideas were in the pipeline but stuck without a web skillset.

Without a streamlined patient booking tool, scheduling and availability proved confusing for staff and patients alike across the 12 Austin locations. Swish needed to rethink how clients would find appointment availability and book at the correct office. Their current patient booking experience just wasn’t cutting it.

Prospective patients were excited to make a dental appointment with Swish but sometimes got confused about whether or not their insurance was in-network with Swish. The lack of an insurance verification solution within Swish’s control led to many lost opportunities for the dental office.

The quantum leap

After discovering and mapping out their four main opportunities, here’s what we brought to the table:

Provided our web expertise and transitioned their old site to a new one, implementing their initial design concept along the way

We’re proud to say we kept their artistic vision while still modernizing their online experience. Plus, we’ve had a number of referrals from people just seeing the Swish Dental website alone. Check it out and book a dental appointment while you’re there!

Created a customized patient booking flow that was a great experience for each dental office and patient

This scheduling tool allows users to see a Google Map, find an office within their proximity, and book an appointment at their preferred location. Gone are the days of scheduling an appointment and walking into the wrong dentist’s office! This tool saves time for customers and makes money for the business.

Built a form that allowed patients to verify if Swish accepted their dental coverage in real-time

No leaving the site. No disrupted process. No visiting an insurance page. We took Swish’s in-network and out-of-network providers and programmed them into the online form using Typeform. (It’s one of our favorite tools to use!) Now, patients can easily determine if their insurance is accepted before taking the plunge to book an appointment. Plus, this tool also allows patients to join Swish’s “Swish Smiles” monthly membership if they’re out of network. This tool has skyrocketed appointments and revenue.

Integrated their systems to work together seamlessly with their marketing strategy

This was highly technical work but paid off for everyone involved. We connected their existing patient database to a new marketing platform, Iterable. This platform allows them to segment and automate personalized marketing communications for their current and prospective patients. As an extension of these efforts, we also integrated a referral platform called Friendbuy  — give $50, get $50. Since integrating the referral platform, we’ve already generated more than 100 referrals – In just the first quarter of being launched!

The scientific conclusion

After our initial work with Swish, they saw an 86% increase in average monthly appointment bookings since launching their new site, patient booking flow and dynamic web tools.
