The genesis

With offices in Texas and the Canary Islands, Expero is a software company comprised of industry experts that create custom software for clients worldwide.

Houston, we have a problem

Expero already had an in-house UX design team with a good idea of what they wanted. But, they needed an expert with strong web design and development experience to execute the new concept on a site that had already been built, maintained, and owned by multiple developers.

Once we started unpacking the different layers of the site, hmpsn studio discovered three challenges:

Expero needed someone to clean up the build and the code. Finding a solution to their problems wouldn’t be an easy evaluation, as their site was intricate and had exchanged many hands over the years. Plus, as a tech company, Expero is held to a higher standard for having clean site code — which was just a little added pressure for us.

Expero had been turning out lots of amazing content, but it just wasn’t being seen by clients. They needed a strategy to activate their social media channels that attracted their followers to engage in their content and webinars.

They wanted customers to be able to find content easily, but with their existing tools and site structure, that just wasn’t possible. Expero had multiple content management systems (CMS) and mismatched template pages that didn’t fit in the same structure. Without a complete overhaul, live search-and-sort was impossible.

The quantum leap

After understanding their need for enhanced web functionality and content engagement, we outlined a plan to help them turn their challenges into wins.

Executed their new creative vision by immersing ourselves in the original code

We learned exactly how the original creators built the site, studied the updates implemented over the years, cleaned up the code, and maintained common classes for quick site load and general cleanliness. And to fully realize Expero’s vision, we even mastered building with rem units — getting the HTML sizing just right. Going the extra mile and educating ourselves on the original site construction helped us bring their site to life.

Created a live search-and-sort tool that categorized all content in one place

The development of this tool proved more complex than previously thought. During our initial research, we discovered that their various template pages were incompatible in the same structure. We sifted through multiple CMS collections, accounting for variances in the different pages, and worked to get data living in all the right places and templates correctly sized. Eventually, we stacked usable data on top of each other to live in the same collection in the hopes of making it work. Any chance of success hinged on this critical component. Activated a social media strategy that realized higher engagement on existing platforms

We asked Expero about their social media goals and greatest sales opportunity.

They had quick and clear answers:

  1. Online traffic and engagement
  2. Webinar registrations

Expero knew that if they could catch a prospect’s attention, they could convert them with what they had to offer. (Their custom software is just that good). Our strategy accounted for their objectives, and we developed a content plan to help drive more traffic to the resources they were already cranking out. This included: 

  • Two posts per week to their LinkedIn channel with specific call outs to educate prospective customers on their different types of software
  • Social graphics to let their network know about upcoming webinars as well as the in-person conference events their team would be attending
  • Social strategy consulting to help their team maximize the number of eyes their posts received by having them reshare to their own personal Linkedin pages
